Mediapress not uploading videos

Hi there,

I have buddypress and am using theme twenty seventeen.

I have a problem with media press uploading videos incorrectly. When users upload a video it shows no thumbnail as you’d expect instead it just shows the file extension thread which you then can’t watch or play. Am I doing something wrong?
