• Hi all,

In the last month or so, I noticed that posting my blog posts on Twitter sometimes shows a preview/Twitter card and sometimes does not. And even if it does show a Twitter card, the Twitter card does sometimes now feature the featured image. This is odd: I define featured images for all my blog posts, and this has worked without problems in the past. I read up on this a lot, but I’m out of my depth on this one.

Here is an example of 10 tweets about blog posts (https://twitter.com/EikoFried/status/1077603997396189185); as you can see, only for a few of them, the featured images are shown—the others are empty. I set and double checked each of these blog posts: every one has a featured image specified. By the time I posted these on Twitter, the featured images were all shown. Now, a few days later, not all featured images appear, which is confusing.

Here is another recent example where no Twitter card was shown at all: https://twitter.com/EikoFried/status/1082013727493419008

I recently migrated my blog from http to https, with a SSL certificate from my hoster, which worked like a charm. Can this have anything to do with it?

    Thanks

  • Use Twitter Card Validator to preview how Twitter “sees” your post, and clear their cache if necessary:

    https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator

For what it’s worth, when I put your last post into the validator, the response I received was “ERROR: Fetching the page failed because the request timed out.”

Thanks George — how would you clear cache? It’s really odd because I get an error message for my newest blog post, but not older ones (they are coded exactly the same way, literally no difference at all).
