• Anything i read about Gutenberg editor forced me to hold on and not update to wp 5.0.2 until today.
Thankfully, everything gone smoothly and site is working fine with the classic editor installed as a plugin.
Then after testing everything to make sure was not broken, i decided to give a try to the new editor, disabled classic and voila…

How the hell do you insert an image in this crap? i could insert it only on the top or the bottom of the content, i could not move it or set the size of it, of course i managed everything my way working only with HTML mode, but this is not an acceptable solution.

Well i played a little more around with the…boxes and returned back to classic editor.

Gutenberg is the biggest crap i could imagine, it is on WordPress hands to keep us on their CMS or to force us leaving, it is that simple.
Improve this…thing or buy buy, and don`t cry for me Argentina!

  • About images and text next to each other which what your question is about… 3 solutions.

    1. Use the columns block, and populate one column with an image block, the other a paragraph block.

    2. Use the Media & Text Block, and

    3. This is the craziest, but it works.

    a. Place an image block,
    b. Underneath it place a paragraph block and type in your text.
    c. Go back to your image block from step a, and change the image alignment to either left or right. Once you do, the image will be inline with the text you put in step b. To revert back to how it was initially, you can click again on the image align button you clicked in step b (left or right), or simply click on the center alignment button.

    Good luck.

Thanks but i don`t ask for a way to disable, it gets disabled automatically when i enable classic editor.
Anyway i tried these filters to see if it gets disabled this way but it does not.

Now, by the way, below is something i just noticed after loading a page in this crap editor

    <!– /wp:heading –>
    <!– wp:paragraph –>

What is the reason for these garbage?
and hundreds more of garbage like these in the page source code, seems like the developers decided not only to make our life difficult but to destroy our sites is well, with Gutenberg every page will be clattered with useless code.

Also i noticed some incompatibility with my old and discontinued theme, some icons missing, only when on Gutenberg, editing window is very narrow, etc etc, it does not effect the site though.

There is no way whatsoever to ever use this editor.

    @satsoklgr

What is the reason for these garbage?

The new editor uses HTML comments for storing block data: type of block, params, etc.

but to destroy our sites as well

No, it doesn’t “destroy” your site. If anything, it makes your content available to you if you decide to stop using the editor in the future: since they are HTML comments, it won’t “polute” your content with visual garbage the way Visual Composer does.

Gutenberg aside, to keep using a old and discontinued theme it’s not a good practice at all. You should migrate to something more modern.

    Hope it helps.

I change theme to a premium modern one.
But i am talking about many sites which i manage as i work with wordpress for over 7 years.

Look, if this thing gets better in the future i ll use it, not because it will be the only choice but because i think that it will be awesome when it will be ready.
I hope until 2021 they will be able to fix some of the hundreds of bugs i found just by trying to make a test post.
I use both editors and i can choose which one to use when make a new post, so from time to time i give a try tο Gutenberg.

here are just a few issues i noticed today just trying to copy an existing post to a new, using Gutenberg.
with new compatible theme and all compatible with wp 5 plugins.

1)images cannot be aligned, they always stay on left despite i choose middle.
2)I don`t like this html comments inside my source code, what is the reason for these?
May be are useful for storing parameters as you say, but why do we have to show these parameters to search engines bots?
3)Its time consuming to find the right block inside this complicated hidden menus.
4)the width of editor window is very narrow, about 600px only, it looks like a vertical line.. not good at all when there is plenty of empty space on either sides.
5)There is no way to edit the permalink before publish the post, or i may be missing another hidden menu?
6)Sometimes this autosaving feature seems to stack and i cannot click on another button unless i refresh the page..
7)Images caption is like a funny vertical line, many lines with one word each ..really funny
8)it broke a custom sidebar plugin but i must be fair here, the plugin is not compatible with wordpress 5 so i removed it as i don`t really need it.

To be honest, Gutenberg editor is not difficult at all and it is a GOOD idea, but it created very negative impressions just because it is no ready yet and to my opinion needs at least another year of work to became a decent editor.

I m sure it will get better, when it does i ll change my review.
