local copy problems
-
I run two websites, for an alumni society and a choir (named in the page link above). For 5 years I have run local copies of each site on my own PC so that I can trial plugins and other things before making them public on our sites. I have recently had to rebuild my OS (now Scientific Linux 7.5) and reinstall software I have phpMyAdmin and MySQL working and have set up the local mysql users so that the local copies of wordpress sites can connect to their databases. I have copied the wp-content directories and run mysql to load the tables from database backups. All this is the same as I have done before. On this occasion it is not working properly which is very frustrating as it worked fine up to now. The fault is that the local copies of the sites show me the correct home pages but cannot find the other pages and posts which it should link to. For example trying to access the local copy of the ‘Musical team’ page at https://localhost/Choir/ gives
The requested URL /Choir/musical-team-2/ was not found on this server.
It must be something to do with transformation of the permalinks into queries to mysql, or maybe the rewrite rules but possible fixes found on the web so far failed.
Can you suggest what I need to change? The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
