Product Search – howto upload thumbnail via REST API

Hello, we use WooCommerce Product Search. We want to know, how we can set a picture for an attribute thumbnail through REST API.
We are in a very similar situation like here:

We want to use REST API to programaticaly set images for colors. Is it possible. We have not found any documentation, how we can do that.
