Lost Password page not allowing reset. ?show-reset-form=true

There seems to be ad off loop when as user requests a new password –

I am on wpengine and have also deabled an email and my account overides in my chuild theme.

When a user goes to https://MYSITE/my-account/lost-password
They type in their username or email

They receive an email with the following link (the key obviously changes each time
https://MYSITE/my-account/lost-password/?key=tyZLF3JYttOtscWcAerx&id=2

If they click this they go to the site and the page then loads here
https://MYSITE/my-account/lost-password/?show-reset-form=true

and so are not able to set their password, receive no pother email and then get locked out if they try to reset the password again within 10 minutes

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
