    Updating Yoast SEO shouldn’t cause any data loss as the plugin settings and SEO data are stored in the WordPress database.

    1. Are you running the latest version of WordPress v4.9.8 and Yoast SEO v9.2.1?
    2. Can you please clarify what SEO data is missing? The general plugin settings? The SEO titles and meta descriptions you’ve entered per post? Sometimes a screenshot that highlights the issue you’re experiencing may be helpful.
