• I created a WP blog as a test site and have posted a couple of hundreds of posts in it. I am now satisfied I like it and, instead of moving it to live, I decided to create a new WP blog and leave this one as my test site. I have already started posting to the live site but would now like to import data from the test site.

Can anyone give me some recommendations on how best to go about doing it? Is the WP export/import utility straightforward? Any gotchas? What happens if I have duplicate posts, categories, etc? I just don’t want to mess up my live site…

    Thanks for any comments!

  • Hi,

WordPress stores all the details in database so you have to take the backup from test blog and restore it in the new blog..

You need to remain same with permalinks settings as it is in the old..if you want to change the settings then you need to write some code in htacess file..

    Hi Shane,

    Thanks for your response!

I understand about the DB backup and restore.

How about WP’s export/import feature. Have you tried that?
