In your website though I can see something like that:

This could be happening due to a conflict with another plugin. Could you please grab a backup of your site and then temporarily deactivate all other plugins apart from BuddyPress and check if this is still an issue? If not, try to activate the remaining plugins one by one and check each time to upload an image, until you reproduce the issue, thus finding the conflicted combination.
