I need some help with installing WordPress on my computer

  • I am a novice coder learning with WordPress/You_Tube & Udemy, so I have a little knowledge, just not a lot. On my laptop last year I managed to install WordPress and I’m sure things have changed somehow as I can’t do it now.

    I have Local by Flywheel installed and I have 3 websites set up that I can use through Local. What I can’t work out is how to install WordPress. I’ve followed instructions in renaming wp-config and adding database info (which I get from the Local database information list) ‘DB NAME’, ‘local’;
    ‘DB USER’, ‘root’;
    ‘DB PASSWORD’, ‘root’;
    ‘DB HOST’, ‘localhost’;

    then I saved this php file.

    AFTER THIS I am stuck! in knowing what exactly to do to actually install WordPress.
    PLEASE HELP! I have tried and tried, and tried and I just can’t work it out.
    Maybe I’m wrong? I don’t need to install WordPress and I only go through Local by Flywheel. I think I can install WordPress tho, and I don’t know how.

    The actual installation of WordPress consists of unzipping the file, putting the database credentials into wp-config.php (which means that a database already exists), and creating the tables in the database.
    If you read the readme.html that is in the root of the zip file, you will see how to do it.

    In Local By Flywheel, all of that is automated. Just click the “New WordPress Site” button from its menu and it will do all the rest. Follow their instructions, not the tutorial for a different environment.

    Can you tell me why Local by Flywheel won’t open or start up?
    I mean I used it earlier, closed it all down then went to use it again a moment ago and when I click on the icon nothing happens. The blue circle search icon appears briefly then disappears.
