Edit buttons are blank and images uploaded are broken.

  • I’m so exhausted and disgusted. WP constantly pushes everyone to upgrade, so for a new blog I’m starting I thought, why not, try 2.7.1 out.

    Very first thing, the edit buttons on the write screen are totally blank. How can I write without being able to edit, quote, etc? And when I upload images from my computer – like the same ones that look fine in my WP 2.5 blog – they are all broken.

    Searching here, I see something about tinymce. Don’t know what this is, and when I went to the site, no info on what I need to upgrade. But that brings up the question: would WP really be pushing people to upgrade, or start 2.7.1 with a plugin like TinyMCE which is OUTDATED?? Or is this something else entirely, since both the buttons and all uploaded images are broken?

    Hi, Drawer, I’ll help you.

    I had hotlinking disallowed in my htaccess file for my other blogs. But since I put no right click in my html, I don’t really need the anti-hotlinking, so deleted it. Now both the uploader and the edit buttons are working fine.

    To help someone else: there is only one htaccess file, in your public_html folder. Same folder you use to ban people. I’ve seen Otto say to put permissions in there for the uploader, but I didn’t have to, just deleted the hotlink ban.
