i’ve been utilizing the plus symbol in my email addresses for many many years successfully (well, there are a few exceptions, like with WordPress sites).

    if you don’t know what i mean, it’s like…
if my email address was “[email protected]” then i can put a plus symbol after the “emailaddy” part & add whatever i want between that & the @ symbol – like “[email protected]”. this method is especially helpful when testing.

so, is there any way to STOP wordpress from not letting form submissions go thru if email addresses have plus symbols in them?

from what i can gather, it’s not a plugin issue, but a core wp one (according to others).

it would be very helpful to allow the legitimate plus symbol in email addresses to not get validated out.

    thanks.

  • What are you using to power form submissions with your WordPress site? I just tested this, and it seems to work fine with Contact Form 7 on a few of my sites.

EDIT: It also seems to work with Gravity Forms. I just created a brand new test install of WordPress, installed and set up a test form with Gravity Forms, and added it to a sample page. I was then able to successfully submit the form using the email address “[email protected]” with both CF7 and Gravity Forms.

Really?!?! i’ve read several other posts here & elsewhere that people have had the same problem & traced it back to being a core WP decision/issue. hmmmm.

i’m using the contact form built in to the Enfold theme…

i can try the Contact Form 7 & see if it works. that would be a drag if Enfold can make it happen but won’t.
    thx.

I’m not immediately familiar with Enfold’s contact form, but it’s likely just utilizing a Javascript validation that could be edited (or replaced).

Your site should also be able to use Contact Form 7, or any other form solution, if the plus sign validation is not available out-of-the-box with your current theme.
