    Hi,
For some weird reason, my custom Pinterest share button links to the post itself. I use the free version. I changed the order of the icons to see if it was the first button that has this link, but that is not the case; only the Pinterest button does this, even when I change the order. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks Bonnie for reaching out. What’s your site url?

Sorry for being so slow, I didn’t get an email notification of your reply!
I didn’t mention my site because I had taken the share buttons down, but today I temporarily solved the issue by telling people to hover over the image. Works for now. ??

So they are back. You can find them under this post, for example.

    Thanks! ??

By the way, I’m now using a plugin that’s called Social Media Plus. But it looks exactly the same and also has the same issue with the Pinterest button. So I assume that plugin was also made by you?

Yes that’s right, originally it was made by us but then got transferred.

Ok, I can now see what you mean. This plugin https://www.ultimatelysocial.com/usm-premium/ doesn’t show any tooltip if you’ve given your icon only a “pin it” (now called “save”) function ??

    Thanks for your reply!
Do you mean that I can only fix this problem by getting the premium version?

Yes, however not that you think it’s a trick to make you get the premium plugin: the default implementation is that we get the icon directly from Pinterest, so we don’t have any control over the design (so we just have to show the rectangle Pinterest icon). In the premium we found a way around this, and implemented it there.

However, there is a solution in the free one also: you can just show rectangle icons (instead of round ones) – then the Pinterest icon will show directly on your site, and there is no need for a tooltip.

And: note that also in the free one click on the icon shouldn’t load your own page again (it should just do nothing). Not sure why it does this on your site – maybe a conflict with your theme.

Ah I get it!! Thanks for your extensive reply! I’ll think about it. I really like my round ones.. ?? Maybe I will purchase the premium version, because well, sharing buttons are important and it’s good to know that the premium version doesn’t do this.

    Thanks Socialdude! ??

I have the FREE version of Ultimate Social Media PLUS, and my Pinterest Button just this week started doing the same thing… linking to the same post in a new tab. If I hover, then click on the “Save” button that pops up, it functions properly. But shouldn’t the actual sharing button do that as well??? I have all my settings set correctly in the plug in, but it’s not doing what I have it set to do. Help?

    My site is https://growingacontentheart.com

    Thanks!

@pianosuzy Your issue might be different, or have a different cause, so please open a new thread for it.
