Hello, I’m new user superpwa wp plugin. I’ve just using it for few hours and already loving it. But I’ve got some question.

From what understand pwa utilizing cache to make site appear as app and load faster. I go to your site but found so little explanation about cache. Mainly how many is the limit. My site is news with a lot of image. I guess per page is around 500 KB up to 2 MB except some category.

PWA is new for me, actually I just read iOS version limit cache to 50 MB. Not sure with Android, not really looking into that. Trying to search but most of it return to iOS limit. Is there any difference? Maybe Android PWA could grow 100 MB from cache?

Then lets move to the next question. If the user delete the app added to home screen, will it also clearing cache? I tried delete it and add again. But everything load so fast make me not sure if the cache already cleared. Maybe because I also using cloudflare.

Now there is something else. Setting page told me app orientation, I assume this force the app orientation. I choose portrait. But apparently this is not working on iOS, tested on 12. This only work on Android, tested on Chrome 69. Explanation please.

I requesting a feature swipe to back and forward, similar to Safari iOS. Not sure if this bug from Safari or the plugin. I cannot swipe back to previous page. And since the back button is not there in pwa version, I cannot return to previous page without return to home page. On Android this is not problem because back button always there because physical.

    Thank you.

    Additional question.

I’m using a lot of internal link in my article. Most of it using target=_blank so if user click it, open in new tab. Now in PWA version in iOS this become a mess since it doesn’t have tab. Of course it behave as app.

Video example below. Mark when the PWA trying to open in new tab, it flashing white just like opening PWA. Then after that, every link with target blank rendered useless. I click it after white flash and nothing happen. Normal link such as title, category anything without open in new tab still works fine.

Can it adjusted in PWA version ignore target blank parameter?

In Chrome Android it still work but in a way I don’t like it. It literally open new window or you could say tab, without tab navigation. It just title, link and close [ x ] mark at above.

    Hi,

Thanks for using SuperPWA. Currently the links which set as target=_blank will open as a new window (like a WebView). Upon iOS also if the links are externalz it will load perfectly.

Upon your website I noticed that most of the links within a post/page are set to open as new window. I believe it’s not the right way to link pages, as per the user perspective the website’s internal links should open within the same tab.

There are many navigation/UX conventions across the Internet and they help us know what to do when we go to a new place. Yes, there are sometimes reasons to go against convention, but they should be thought out.

If your internal links always open in new tabs and if your website has interesting content that someone is browsing through, things can get messy pretty quickly.
