    Hello guys,

Thanks for the great plugin: it is exactly what I’m looking for. However, it’s important that I can use this plugin (mostly) in Dutch. I saw there are some Dutch translations, but not all. I want to add the Dutch translations to my website, and if needed, add some more translations. But I have no idea how to do this.

Could you guys help me please,
    Thanks

    Nick Suy

    Hello Nick,

There are two different way to translate SEP.

    – You can translate your job board desired strings, you can do this using POEDIT software. You just have to follow the below instructions.
Using POEDIT, you just have to create the .po file, add the lang_code with the file name and add the strings with their translation like simple-job-board-lang_code.po and place the file in plugin languages directory. After adding strings with translation compile the .po file with POEDIT, it will generate .mo file.

Note: If simple-job-board-lang_code.po file already created then just add the strings with their translation and compile it with POEDIT.

    – You can also add strings with their translation at GlotPress.

GlotPress Team validates the translation, after validation, it will be updated on GlotPress and you can get translation via WordPress updates.

Thanks for reaching us out. Let us know if you need our further assistance.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your response!

I have downloaded Poedit and started making translations. This works nicely. When I save the translations it creates a .mo and .po file, wich I then upload to the languages folder of the plugin.

However, translations don’t appear on my website. Is there some setting I have to edit?

I have saved the files as this:
    simple-event-planner-nl_NL.mo

My WordPress website also has Dutch as standard language.

    Kind regards,
    Nick

    Hello guys,

Is there an option to already add the translation to my website?

I have translated only the parts that I need. I would have no problem translating every string as good as I can, but I need some more time for that. I’ll translate it as a thanks for helping me with this issue.

So in the meantime, can I use the partly translated version?

    Kind regards,
    Nick

    Hello,

As previously askes, could you tell me how I add this translation to the plugin? I’ve added the languages files but the text remains in English.

    Kind regards,

    Nick,

Did you compile the .po file through POEDIT software after adding the translated strings? You can contact us on [email protected] with the translated strings so we can compile the .po file for you.

    Hello,

Yes, I have compiled the .po file using POEDIT and I now have a .mo file.
What should I do with this .mo file to use it on my website?

Also, if you’d like, I can send the files to you so you have an almost completed Dutch translation.

    Kind regards,
    Nick

    Nick,

    That’s great.

Just change the language of the site from the WordPress Admin Dashboard Settings > General and then check again.

Hopefully, your translation will be worked.

I think we missed a few steps here.

So what I have done is this:
    1. Compiled the file, so I now have a .mo and a .po file.
    2. named these files “simple-event-planner-nl_NL.mo” (and .po) (is this right?)
    3. Placed the files in the plugins language folder
    4. Re-saved the language settings in WordPress

But it doesn’t work yet. Do I have to do something else? (I’m using POEDIT on my desktop by the way, is this right? Or is there a plugin?)

    Kind regards,
    Nick

I live in Belgium, and my WordPress language setting is set to “Dutch (Belgium). So I have now changed the names to nl_BE instead of nl_NL. Is this correct? Translation still doesn’t work by the way.

    Hey guys, it worked!

I cleared the cookies and resaved the general language settings a few times, and now it works. Thanks for your help!

Now for my next question: why is only the back-end being translated? If you look at the front-end calendar (https://parochiezaalhorendonk.be/beschikbaarheid/), it seems that none of the text here is translated. How does this come?

What’s more, some strings that appear in the calendar don’t even exist in the .pot file itself! For example, the text “There are no events in this period” doesn’t appear anywhere in POEDIT. Is this normal? This is the most important text that has to be translated.

    Kind regards,
    Nick
