I don’t think you need a child theme in your situation – changes made in the customizer will be saved through updates.

Simply speaking, you only need to use a child theme if you plan on adding lots of CSS and PHP functions.

Excellent, thanks for taking time to respond. I think I’ll move ahead without the child theme at this point.

If I get into more serious changes down the line, then I’ll use a child theme.
