I just went to share my site on facebook as it’s just about ready for release, but I noticed that it uses a bad image for the featured image. Because I’m using Elementor, I can’t just simply choose the ‘featured image’ option within the WordPress editor.

The one I want to use is a transparent png which sits as a background overlay in the top of the page.

If that’s not possible are there any other workarounds? Like force a hidden image to be used?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Moved to Fixing WordPress, please do not use Developing with WordPress for these topics.

Because I’m using Elementor, I can’t just simply choose the ‘featured image’ option within the WordPress editor.

For Elementor support please consider posting in that plugin’s sub-forum instead.

Are you using any plugins to supply opengraph tags? WordPress SEO by Yoast does this, as do others. If you don’t use a plugin, then Facebook has to scan your HTML for an image, and won’t use one that is in CSS. It looks for images in the page.

I actually figured it out. Even if you use Elementor, you can just go to the regular WordPress edit page (don’t choose edit with wordpress though) and set the featured image using the featured image… feature. Click save and it will apply it.
