    Hi everyone

I’ve been using this plugin for over a year now and pretty happy with it.

Howoever checking the 404’s today I realized there are large number of 404 urls I can not understand..

    mywebsite.com/posturl/www.anothercompanyname.com

This another company domain name belongs to one of our clients and their domain name is strangely appears at the end of an unrelated post.

Another thing is mywebsite.com/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/ gives 404…We have no idea what’s the deal.

    Thank you for your help

As with anything in the 404 log you will need to look at the user agent, referrer, and IP address to determine if the requests are legitimate or a bot. If it is a legitimate request then you can try and fix where the requests are coming from.

Bots will trawl sites with nonsense requests and this may be what you are seeing. There is nothing you can do about this.

    Hi John

Thank you for your quick reply. How can I determine if it is a legitimate request. Is there way to check user agent or referrer is legitimate?

I don’t change redirects too often. Should the Redirect Cache set to Forever?

There is no easy way to determine a legitimate request, you’ll have to use the information to hand the best you can.

I would leave the cache time alone unless you are confident about changing it.
