      Click add to cart, then view the cart.
      Click the calculate shipping link in the cart
      It doesn’t calculate the amount unless you change the shipping amount

    The problem is if someone doesn’t calculate the shipping until the checkout page, and also doesn’t select the shipping, it doesn’t charge them shipping.

    Hi there,

    Please double-check your Shipping options (WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Shipping options) and make sure Hide shipping costs until an address is entered is not checked.

    Try this out and let me know if that works.

    It was checked. Still does the same thing. You have to change the shipping option to get it to trigger the Ajax update it seems

    Could it be due to the theme you’re using? I’m using the Storefront theme and I don’t seem to have a problem. The shipping option on Storefront theme is radio buttons and by default, the first option will be selected.

    when I switched it to Radio Buttons, it works properly because no radio button is checked, and it requires it. Using a selection drop down is the problem. I am not sure if that’s a bug in the theme or in WooCommerce.

    Hi @marcpope,

    By default, WooCommerce does not have a dropdown option for the shipping method options. This sounds like you got the drop down feature from a third party plugin? I would double check with the support/dev teams of that plugin to see why this issue may be happening.
