Increase Page Title clarity (in some circumstances)

  • Sometimes the page title doesn’t superimpose well on top of the background header image. It would be great if you allowed a change in settings to cater for the page title showing over the background header image, but also lower down (beneath the header image) in order to increase clarity. I think both options are useful in certain contexts.

    I did consider have a light or dark filter over the background header image (and having the relevant dark or light page title on top of that, but the client wanted the original photograph which meant that options wasn’t available.

    Sometimes the page title would be far less readable over certain parts of the background header image… especially due to it being a responsive website meaning the header image changes position as the browser width changes.

    You might consider having both choices (page title over header image, or page title beneath header image) as a choice in settings… that way both solutions are available.

    Did you customize the website? Because by default the title always appears above the banner image and there is a black overlay in the banner that makes the text readable with any light background image added.

    Thanks for getting back to me so promptly. I didn’t ever notice a black overlay… I didn’t customise that part of it.

    Either way, the client didn’t want a black (or white) overlay. They preferred the page title below. I can understand if you don’t want to change this, however sometimes it’s good to have an image without an overlay (e.g. a photograph), and in such examples putting the page title below often looks better.

    Your call though, as it’s your theme, not mine. I’ve made a child theme which does this, so it’s no concern of mine, just a suggestion. In some ways overriding as I did is possibly preferable anyway.
