• Update: If you uninstall a Boldgrid component via the WP interface, and not via their website; the reason your website still crashes after uninstall, is that there are a lot of entries in your PHP database which are left behind. You can find these, and easily clean them up in the WP-Options Database; or–I’m sure their support will be very happy to do that for you, if you are squeamish. The clean-up is pretty easy btw. I would imagine that many plugins and/or themes would leave behind traces, so always good to check. ??

Edit to inform of resolution: Boldgrid support was responsive and professional, and provided me instructions with how to audit my database for any code remnants. With the support given, I will definitely try out Boldgrid again in the future, and perhaps utilize their cloud space which lets you test out plugins before deploying them on your live site. The product they have put together is absolutely stellar, it packs a ton of features for a very reasonable penny and makes for very fast website building. I also love how it includes full e-commerce support, should one want to set up a Woo-Commerce store.
BGJoe was great throughout. So don’t let the bugs scare you folks, just be smart and test on a clone of your database before playing Frankenstein with your live website. ??

    Cheers, Marina.

This app has more bugs than I’ve ever seen, and to make matters worse, the support is tenous for the free version, and the self-serve tools leave a lot to be desired.

I do get that you do not get the world for free, but if the free version is in pieces, how will anyone commit to using their premium product?

In all fairness, another plugin started it, and the other plugin was clearly at fault. However, with that being the fact-having robust help files would be a start, and letting a user completely disconnect your product would just about be a requirement.

Were it not for my host pushing it, I never would have tried it.

Look, your product–while it works, is fantastic. For what you get, and for very little; it is amazing. Amazing just isn’t any good though, when you’re dealing with repeated internal server errors and fatal errors in the plugin, the last one due to a license mismatch.

I’m none too happy with my site being stuck with your key connector. Tomorrow, if I get lucky perhaps someone on stack exchange or the like can point me to where exactly in my WP code the rogue leftovers are sitting, and I will personally yank them with a text editor.

Until they fix these issues, RUN, don’t walk the other way. And DO not do their WP/Boldgrid integrated installation, whatever you do.

If you can provide your users with some tools, or charge enough to provide a phone number for support (for the starter version), I’ll be happy to use your product again.

Like I said, it is great – when it works.
