back-up to external hard drive

  • HI there.

    I am looking for help on how to back-up a wordpress site to an external Hard Drive.
    via plugin-in, but without going premium.

    or any other ideas would be much appreciated.

    On most of my sites, I use the plugin BackWPUp to backup the sites to Dropbox. This is part of the free version of the plugin. I include Dropbox in my normal backups to my external drives.

    Hi Steven,
    Thank you for your reply.
    I am using Updraft and this allows me to back up to dropbox or google drive.

    I am assuming i can copy the google drive folder/ directory to the Ext. HDD without loosing any data, if not then i will make another back-up to Dropbox.

    so if i copy the folder from google drive to my ext. HDD no data will be left?

    If you have your Google files in a folder ON YOUR OWN HARDDRIVE then you can copy that folder onto your external drive. Whether you choose to leave that data on your hard drive or Google is up to you.

    I was meaning that it wont leave data when copying it across, as sometimes it doesnt allow some data to be moved.

    I don’t mount Google Drive on my computer, so I can’t be sure. Try and see.
