    Hello
I observe a strange comportement on Jetpack since 2 article. I precise my jetpack version is 6.4.2. I was not sure after first article. And I have made my verifications to sure on the behaviour.

    1. I write an article with a photo
    2. I write a short text for publicize. I have checked that facebook and twitter are checked in configuration
    3. I wait for planfication
    4. Nothing is published on twitter or facebook even if article is published on wordpress
    5. I open article and look the publicize section to see facebook and twitter are uncheck. I check also in jetpack configuration and facebook et twitter are correctly associated.

Can you please help me to solve this issue ?
I don’t know what to check, or to configure.

  • Hi @murrey35,

If you send me your site URL, I’d be happy to take a look at what is happening with Publicize. You can also contact us via this form if you prefer that information to remain private:

I precise my jetpack version is 6.4.2.

6.5 is the current version of Jetpack so I recommend making sure you are up to date there ??

    Hello Gemma
My initial plan was to upgrade, but I have found anything about that on version notes. This week end I will try to create an article to reproduce the issue on another web site on 6.4.2 first and 6.5 after.
The production site where I have the incident is https://www.live-sim.com

I’ve made test on 6.4.2 and 6.5 with a twitter test account. In both case it does not share on twitter account. Is Jetpack updating a log file somewhere on the web server ?

    Hi there,

I checked your site and found out that Publicize is disabled. In order to check if that’s working correctly, I need you to enable it. To do so, go to your Dashboard > Jetpack > Sharing and toggle the Automatically share your posts to social networks option.

Also, make sure you’re creating a new post when sharing to Facebook or Twitter as re-publishing an existing post won’t share it.

This is really strange, because it’s enabled. I’ll made a screenshot for you.
    https://i.imgur.com/fAzuZMT.png.
After publishing an article I know that I can’t publicize again. The uncheck behaviour after plublishing seems different for me. I remembered the checkbox was ticked.
Anyway, this is not the point, Publicize is enabled for me, and disabled for you on live-sim.com. Is it explanation why it didn’t publicize ? How to fix it ?

    Hello,

I’ve taken a look as well and can confirm as Fotis did that from our side, Publicize / automatic social sharing does not appear to be activated.

It’s possible that it’s because you’re not using the most current version on https://www.live-sim.com, so updating the Jetpack plugin could rule that out as an issue. I’m unsure which site you performed the test on with 6.5, but I’d be happy to check that out to see if there was something else different with it that isn’t present on https://www.live-sim.com.

This is much more likely a conflict. I did see some plugins that I do not recognize or that seems related to the post/page editor, so I would recommend deactivating them temporarily and making a new post to test if any of them are conflicting with Jetpack’s Publicize feature:

    – author-filters
    – co-authors-plus
    – edit-flow
    – flamingo
    – ls-publication-controls
    – post-worktime-logger
    – posts-character-count-admin
    – posttabs
    – public-post-preview-configurator
    – public-post-preview
    – shariff
    – tinymce-advanced
    – wp-tab-widget

Please let me know the results of this troubleshooting and we can go from there. Thanks!

this site (www.live-sim.com) is our production site. We have duplicated that site, to be able to test new features, or upgrade plugins before upgrading in production.

here it is the duplicate site. livesim2.myqnapcloud.com. Jetpack is installed with 6.5 version. I have the same behaviour (I mean no publicize) even it is enabled (but with another wordpress account).

Can you check on your side if publicize is disabled too on the duplication site ? If yes I will able to disable all plugins you have given to me and make tests.

    Thanks for your help.

I checked out livesim2.myqnapcloud.com and Jetpack is not properly connected to it – it is being timed out when trying to sync your content and settings.

On that site, would you be able to try the following for me?

    1. From the wp-admin dashboard of your site, please go to Jetpack > Dashboard > Connections > Manage site connection from your left-hand menu.

    2. Click the “Disconnect” button.

    3. Deactivate your Jetpack plugin by heading to Plugins > Installed Plugins and finding “Jetpack by WordPress.com.” After a few moments, activate it.

    4. Back in Jetpack > Dashboard > Connections > Manage site connection, Click the “Set up Jetpack” button and continue through the approval process.

Please let me know the results of this troubleshooting and we can go from there. Thanks!

I have disconnected and reconnected as you have explained.
I will try to create an article and test if it publicize in twitter with test account (as it’s configured in jetpack)

I have create an article and wordpress has not publicized with jetpack to twitter.
    Can you confirm :
    – is jetpack correctly configured on livesim.myqnapcloud.com ?
    – is publicize enable ?

After I will make test and while disabling the listed plugins.

Here’s what is interesting – When I first tested livesim2.myqnapcloud.com, I saw a fantastic connection to Jetpack and Publicize was activated!

However, I tested again and got the timeout error I was seeing before.

Now when I test, I’m seeing it connect only about half the time.

Because of this, I would recommend reaching out to your web host to first make sure that Jetpack is not getting blocked or limited on these two sites. For the best results, you could also have them whitelist the following:

    1. All connections to and from *.wordpress.com
    2. Our service IP range: 192.0.64.0/18

Once you’ve spoken with them, please let us know and we can check (and re-check a few times) the connection between Jetpack, https://www.live-sim.com, and livesim2.myqnapcloud.com. Thanks!

    (@murrey35)

For livesim2.myqnapcloud.com, this is a NAS at my home. There is no host actually even if there is name resolution with myqnapcloud.com. Do you have the same behaviour (time out on the other site https://www.live-sim.com). I can check the log on my firewall, if there is something dropped. But I need to know what is your source IP address and target port. (may be safer to give that information by MP or mail ? ).
This is strange because it was working fine for years.

I have made some test with Jetpack 6.4. This is the same. I have updated again in 6.5.
Can you tell me if you have log message who can explain why there is no publicize ?
On Livesim2 can you confirm it is configured correctly ?

    (@madhattersez)

I apologize, I had replied yesterday, but it seems I did not submit it properly?

Either which way, I’m unsure how to properly diagnose or recommend a working Jetpack connection to your NAS – that would best be left in your hands. However, it definitely seems like something is limiting the connection.

I can definitely say that https://www.live-sim.com has no timeout errors. I’ve tested the connection 10 times in a row now and have only seen positive results:

    https://jetpack.com/support/debug/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.live-sim.com%2F

On that site, I still stick by the idea that all of the modifications to your post/page editor via plugins are likely the cause here.

    (@murrey35)

What is your recommendation to test ? Disable all plugins and test if publicize is working ?
