Thumbnail Choose from Video No Longer Working in Safari

I just updated to Safari 12. The thumbnail creation “choose from video” had been working before this update and now is not. When I select a frame, then click “use this frame” it says, “saving” but then saves the first frame of the video as the thumbnail, not the frame I chose.

I can ask it to generate several random thumbnails, and it successfully does that, and I can choose one of those and save.

Firefox does create the thumbnail “choose from video” correctly.

Anything I can do to work in Safari?
