Uploaded a pdf but can’t link to a link on sidebar

using 2.7.1

have uploaded a pdf by media upload but for the life of me cannot get it to link to a link.

this message comes up

404 – Not Found
The page you are trying to access does not exist.
If this error persists, please contact the website webmaster.

what should the url be, cos it doesnt show on the media panel
