Error connecting to database

  • I’ve been using WP for months but now all of the sudden I get “Error establishing a database connection” when I try to go to my page. It first happened when I was in the middle of updating a post. I know my server is still running fine because I have other sites that use databases on it. Is there something I can do about this, short of reinstalling?

  • If you didn’t change anything and you know your db server is still running, then it could be due to something your host changed.

    Most of the time, that error is due to one of the db settings in wp-config.php being wrong…if your site was running…you didn’t change anything…and then you suddenly get the error…and you have other apps connecting to the db server, then I would guess it’s something the host changed. You can take a look at the following video showing how to troubleshoot this…it may help.
