widget to display most recent image on external page?

I have a blog I update with substantial posts twice weekly. I have a new daily section that updates with a single image each day. I’m not very happy with the effect on my main page (I think it looks like I’m skimpy on actual content, which I’m not), so I set up a subdomain to host the daily photos. I’d still like new readers to my main site to know about this feature and thought the best way would be with a widget that posts to the main page the most recent image from my subdomain. Is this kind of widget already available?

I’m not a programmer, so creating it myself is just not going to happen, but am open to alternative ideas to solve my problem should such a widget not already exist. On a related side note, any idea how to plug my subdomain into the links to pages at the top of my index page? I have no idea where I would even begin on that front.
