Thanks — would you also be able to send me the links for a couple that had the sharing option unticked? I can see a few have been published recently but from first glance, I can’t see which ones were shared when they shouldn’t have been.

Also, did you publish the posts manually or were they scheduled?

Can you confirm whether this is the only post shared when you weren’t expecting it to be (automatically at the time of publishing)? Knowing that will help me work out whether this is an isolated incident or a wider issue on your site.

It happens every single time I post something and untick the boxes.

I noticed you own a number of Jetpack connected sites, which means the issue is the result of something specific to cg.dearisobel.org. Do you recall installing any new plugins before this started happening? Or making any other site changes?

I’m just wondering if this behaviour could be the result of a plugin conflict. If you have recently activated any new plugins (especially those based around social media functionality) it would be worth deactivating them to see if the same happens afterwards.

To the best of my knowledge I haven’t installed anything related to social media, but I am going to test the two recent plugins I’ve activated and see if that resolves the problem.

That did not work. Posts are still going to social media with the boxes unticked and all recent plugins deactivated.

I think I’ve isolated the problem. I am unticking the boxes, but the plugin is still filling in the title of the post in the textbox and if there is text there, it publishes to social media whether or not the boxes are selected.

Hi Melissa, sorry for the delay in getting back to you! Is this still happening now? Do you have a more recent post for which this has happened?

For what it’s worth, I was unable to reproduce the issue on my own site, with what you described (unchecking the boxes but leaving the text in the description box).

I can’t explain why the problem existed or why doing this small thing of removing the text is working. It just is, and I’m happy to have found an answer.
