I have a blog for which i would like to change the Administrator. But I can’t get rid of the old admin.

When I go to Users >> All Users >> then check the old admin, and Apply Delete, I get an error: “Delete Users – You have specified this user for deletion: ID #1: admin The current user will not be deleted. – There are no valid users selected for deletion.”

And if I check Change role to Contributor, I also get an error: “The current user’s role must have user editing capabilities.”

How can I get rid of the unwanted Administrator?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    – In dashboard, go to users > Add new
    – Add a new user with admin rights (don’t call it admin)
    – Log out of WordPress
    – Log back in as your newly created Admin user
    – Delete the default Admin user. Note: when you delete the original admin, assign any content it has created to the new admin account.

Thank you, t-p, for your quick and lucid reply. The procedure is perfectly logical, and it works. Don’t know why it’s not somewhere on WordPress. I’m sure other people must need to do this also.
