Hello, you mean when Ocean Extra is activated or another plugin? Are you on PHP 7?

I’m on wordpress, hosted with hostgator, and yes when the specific plugin Ocean Extra is activated is puts up that fatal error. If you go to the website on your mobile you should be able to see it.

Hopefully that answered all of you questions. I’m not sure how PHP 7 falls into this though.

Hello, well from what I heard from many people on with my own experience, Hostgator is a very bad host, maybe not for a normal site but really bad for a WordPress site, and apparently by default you are on PHP 5.6 which is an old PHP version.

If you can, I advise you to switch to a good host like Cloudways, Kinsta, SiteGround or Themecloud, those hosts run by default PHP 7 and are managed WordPress host so if you have any issue, they will be able to help you quickly.

If you want to stay on Hostgator, ask them what is your current PHP version and tell them to upgrade to PHP 7.2, when they will tell you that they have upgraded, check if it is true with the Display PHP Version plugin because a user told me that they say to him they had upgraded its PHP version but it was still on PHP 5.6.

Hostgator is saying I cannot get PHP 7.2, any reason why that would be the case? I’m not understanding.

Is it easy to migrate a website off of hostgator and onto a different hosting plan?

Have you tried to re-install the plugin? Because you shouldn’t have this error.

If you want to switch, many hosts propose free migration, so they will let you know how to do, but it is not complicated and in the future, you will be happy that you have change.

    No. I’ll try doing that.

Who would you recommend in particular? SiteGround seems good. I’m worried about performance and load time since my website hosts my podcasts as well.

The hostgator people said I would need to pay 200 a month to go from 7.1 to 7.2….

For $200/month, you can have much better than Hostgator and PHP 7 already included.
I would recommend Cloudways, with OceanWP, the loading speed will be great.

Right? The person thought I was stupid.

Fantastic. Thank you. Any chance you have a coupon code, so you can get credit for the referral?
