BUT when I attempt to recover my forgotten password I click on it it sends me an email and then when I click the link I do not have a chance to reset the password It states “Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid.”

And I did not hit a key… And then it is a loop, password reset email click link and “Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid.”

Have a look at Resetting_Your_Password in the docs section for some options.

The emergancy password reset script is nowhere to be found, the link goes to a page, it states it is good for wordpress 2.3x [I have 2.6] but nothing to download

Call me lazy, and I am, but resetting password via phpMyAdmin gets the job done in under two minutes ??

Same here ?? But not everyone has phpMyAdmin (or similar tools).
