• I’m a 42 year old geek. I’ve seen some bad editors in my time, but this is absolutely the worst editor I have ever had the displeasure of trying out. The whole block concept is clunky. Making images behave the way you want them to is SO much easier using the “Classic Editor” than this. And although it’s cute that you can change your button background colors, you have no ability to set the link target without converting it to HTML. If I’m going to do it in HTML anyway, why am I messing with this Gutenberg nonsense? Please don’t force this garbage on everyone. You’re ruining WordPress.

  • Hello cmilliken

I’m a 54 year old geek ?? If you like writing your Posts in plain HTML like me, do this: Create a new Custom HTML Block and paste your Content into that Block. Now you have nice Syntax highlighting and a realtime HTML Validity check.

And don’t worry, Gutenberg will not “kill” the Classic Editor. Even when GB will become the Default Editor, it will still be possible to use the Classic Editor as a Plugin.

I don’t care who likes doing what. I won’t subject my clients to this garbage. Gutenberg has about 10 years worth of development to go before it even catches up to Page Builder. Prepare to be forked. Hard.

    Prepare to be forked. Hard.

That’s a seriously ambitious endeavor. I’d be extremely surprised if anyone was able to do that successfully.

I appreciate that you’ve left some specific details about your experience so far. Thank you.

There’s an open request to add an “Open in new window” option to the link field in the button block that is open for consideration.

May I ask exactly what you’re trying to do with images which is easier in classic? I’d like to know more about that.
