Broken Blog pages show at most

  • In my Reading Settings, I have the Blog pages show at most set to 7. However, when I view the blog, 99 excerpts are showing before it paginates to a second page. I’ve performed the following troubleshooting:
    1. Changed themes – no change
    2. Deactivated all plugins – no change
    3. Attempted to change the number of blog pages shown to various numbers – no change

    I’m really at a loss and would appreciate some help.

    What exactly was done at the site before this issue occurred?

    I’m not sure. I have no idea how long this functionality has been broken.

    Try MANUALLY updating. Download WordPress again and unzip it. Access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Please read the Manual Update directions first.

    Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

    I followed all of the directions to the letter and I’m still having the same issue. The weird thing is, it’s only the main blog page that is having the issue. If I go to page 2 or higher of the blog, it shows the correct # of posts.
