• Hello,

I see from https://www.megamenu.com/documentation/astra/ that MegaMenu does indeed work with Astra. I have never used a plugin for a menu before. I am battling to find a specific page which details how to use this plugin with Astra. For example, I am used to simply creating the Astra Above Header / Header menu’s via the customiser.

Tom, (or anyone), could you please send a url of either a video or an article which steps me through how to use this plugin with Astra? Will I need to buy the pro version for things to work with Astra? (happy to if this is the case)

    Thanks again
    Michelle

    Hi Michelle,

There are no specific videos for Astra. Apart from what you see on the page you’ve linked to, the instructions are the same for every theme.

Before installing the plugin you should become an expert at the standard menu system under Appearance > Menus. MMM adds a heavy layer of complexity on top of the standard menu system, so you should not skip that step. There should be articles out there on how to set up standard menus with Astra. You may find that the standard menu system does what you want.

Once you are an expert at the standard system, you can install MMM and go through our documentation here: https://www.megamenu.com/documentation/ . Remember that MMM is a “tool” which can help you make the menu you want, but it is not “a menu in a box”.

If you are new to the plugin, you should read the documentation first and make sure it is actually the tool you need to be using, and expect to spend at least a couple of hours playing about and getting used to it. I would imagine most users who do eventually upgrade will have been using it for at least a few weeks before deciding they want the extra features in Pro.

    Regards,
    Tom

Hi Tom. Thanks for your reply. I installed your free version into my Astra theme and then worked my way through the documentation, playing as I went. I am in fact happy with my Astra Menu (stick, hover effects etc) – it is just the submenu’s I want to change.

    Question 1:
Am I correct that this is not possible, I can’t simply use MMM for my sub-menu’s?

    Question 2:
Regardless of your answer I will go ahead and purchase MMM Pro because I need it for my sub-menu’s. I’ve overheard conversations about “schema” getting messed up when you start using elementor and other plugins to build menu’s in Astra. Honestly I hardly know what this means other than things might not be tagged in such a way that it makes it easy for google to understand the website’s structure. Is this anything I have to worry about with MMM?

Thanks again, those are my last questions for now.

    Hi Michelle,

MMM will completely replace your main menu, you can’t use it just for the sub menus.

I am not sure what they mean about “schema”, it may be worth contacting whoever has said that to get clarification.

Before upgrading to Pro, please make sure you’re very comfortable with the free version. Our support includes help for fixing bugs, but not for step by step instructions (our documentation covers this).

    Regards,
    Tom
