Where is the permalink setting for an article + Problems with the gallery

    Hi, I’m testing a little with Gutenberg. I have to say that I’m really frustrated at the moment.

    I cannot find the permalink setting for an article; in the classic editor it is above the text entry field.

    Second problem: Why does a gallery not show the thumbnails of the pictures as before but the full images? The thumbs have some little KB, the full images have 200 – 300 KB. If a gallery has 20 fotos the load is about 5 MB instead of perhaps 800 KB.

    Sorry for my bad English; I’m from Germany and it’s really difficult to explane my problems in English. I hope you can understand me.

    Hi,

    The gallery issue is something that is actively being worked on right now, you can follow along at https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/6177

    So yes, it’s not ideal in its current state unfortunately, we’re doing our best to make that better ??

    Hi Marius,

    thank you for your answer. I spend half of my night with a date with Gutenberg and I must say – I start to like it ?? There are so much possibilities and I think if all starting problems are solved it will be a brilliant thing. I’m looking forward to it!

    Hi,

    it’s me again. In the meantime there were several Gutenberg updates, but the gallery problem still exists. I would be very interested in when there will be a solution?

    The GitHub ticket is still the best place to look at the progression, as it is still actively being updated.

    Hi Marius,

    I’m very sorry, but my English is really bad. I am not able to understand the discussion in the linked github thread. When I try to translate with Google it gives no sense at all. Please tell me: Is the gallery problem solved? Thank you in advance for an answer!

    The image GitHub issue is open with a milestone of WordPress 5.0.1. However, this may change so keep checking the issue until it’s closed.

    For GitHub, the important things to look at are:

    Status: This is directly below the title.
    Green = Open = Pending action(s)
    Red = Closed = Action(s) taken

    Milestone: This is in the sidebar above the subscribe button or avatars of participants.
    Empty = No fix is scheduled
    Something = This determines which version the fix is predicted to be added.
    Note: The milestone can change so check often while the status is open.
