• My “email admin when someone posts a comment” isnt working. In fact, it never has. From checking the past discussions in this area, the following information may be useful.
    1) This is on a hosted server, it is running a maill server, I know this because I use a php mail form and it works.
    2) The email address in my setup, listed as “This address is used only for admin purposes.”, is valid and functional.
    3) I have the “email me when a comment is posted enabled”.
I have tried this with anonymous comments and comments with a valid email address and also checked my spam box, I am certainly not getting the email.
Oh yeah, this is WP 1.2.
    Thanks

Fixed. Just goes to show that searching the archives before posting always helps.
The fix was that my “site admin” account did not have an email address associated with it. I added on and it works fine now.

I’m having a similar problem. I used to get email notification of comments, but they’ve stopped. I wonder if it’s because I’ve installed Scripty Goddess’s comment subscription plugin? (https://www.scriptygoddess.com/archives/2004/06/03/wp-subscribe-to-comments/). Has anyone else had a similar problem? I’ve checked and my admin login does have an email address associated with it.

I’ve deactivated Scripty Goddess’s plugin, and changed the wp-comments file back to the original version. However, comments are still not being email to me. The only plugin I have running at the moment is Spam Karma. Could this be interfering with my comment emails?

I’m having the same problem as mfischer2 was originally having. I checked, and my admin account does have a valid e-mail address. Any other ideas? When I first set up my blog, I got an e-mail saying my installation was successful. Therefore, I know WP is able to send e-mail. I just can’t figure out why it isn’t letting me know when someone posts a comment.

Are you guys on 1.5.1 — because the original 1.5 had a bug that stopped mail going out.

No, I’m still on 1.5. Maybe that is the problem. I haven’t ever tried upgrading. I’ve modifed my template a lot – will the upgrade mess it up? Thanks for the help.

Yes, that was the problem. Version 1.5.1 works just fine. Thanks again for the help.
