Browser key not working after multiple attempts

Sometimes changes aren’t processed correctly by the Google Console. It says it can take 5 minutes before the changes are processed, but this sometimes never happens.

Try to delete the existing project, and create a new set of keys.

I have already tried creating a new project about 6 times and the key still will not work. I logged into the console this morning and tried the last key from yesterday and also still no joy. The server key using the IP address as the referrer (as instructed by the plugin) works fine. Just the browser key with the HTTP URL as the referrer that is the issue. I use https://kingscomfort.co.za/ as the referrer which is correct URL.

I checked the code using CTRL+Shift+J and receive the following error message:

js:39 Google Maps JavaScript API error: RefererNotAllowedMapError

Try to set the referrer to kingscomfort.co.za/* ( add the * to it ).

It appears the browser key from this morning is now functioning. Very odd. I never used the * after the URL though.

Experiencing the same issue now after moving the website from our sub-domain dev.kingscomfort to the primary domain kingscomfort. The Browser key is just not being accepted. I have tried about another 10 times to generate a new key waiting between 5 minutes and a day each time. I have tried both variations for the referrer being:

https://www.kingscomfort.co.za/*
https://www.kingscomfort.co.za/

Neither of these work.

The page with the store-locator is https://kingscomfort.co.za/store-locator/

What could be the issue?

There are 2 errors in the browser console.

Try to disable the autoptimze plugin for a second, and then check the browser console again for any errors.

I have disabled Autoptimize and the Browser key has now been accepted. However I now cannot add any starting location on the Settings page. No matter what I enter the plugin won’t accept it.

When loading the page it states ‘no results found’ and then displays a ‘This page cant load Google maps correctly’ message.

What shows up in the browser console?

You did enable billing for the project in the Google API Console? Because as of July 16, 2018, to continue to use the Google Maps Platform APIs, you must enable billing on each of your projects.

this is very likely a 404 not found on the AO script-file, probably due to the AO cache being purged but having a page in a page cache still referencing the purged AO JS file. clearing page caches will very likely solve that problem.
