how to find out someones IP to block it

    Hi,
    Wordfence tells me that someone keeps trying to get admin access, and I think this is the same person all the time. But I was not able to find a way to have their IP revealed. I am sure Wordfence has the IP somewhere in the logs, but I have no idea how to access it. Please, how can I avoid this person to keep trying to gather access to my website?

  • Go to “Live Traffic” in the side menu and search for the date/time he tried to log in. Once you have located the traffic entry, click “block” button.

    “Live Traffic” is not on by default, for those who don’t have it on, do the following to activate it,
    : Click “All Options” side menu (if “All Options is not in the side menu, click “Dashboard” and click “Global Options” cogwheel at the right of the screen).
    : Under “Wordfence Global Options”, find “View Customization” and click the accordion to open the list.
    : check “Display “Live Traffic” menu item”. In fact check them all to be ON.
    : click Save Changes button at the top right.

    Then go to Live Traffic and find that rotter.

    Make sure the IP is not yours. To find your own IP, go to Google and type “my ip” and Google will tell you.

    As a note, if you have premium version of WordFence, you can block via country. This you have to decide if your website is purely local (local to your own country) and someone accessing your site from, lets say South American, is of no concern. Then block each country in South America since servers and proxies from that continent are well used by hackers.

    Hi @volkerforster
    In addition to what was mentioned by @mwarbinek (thanks for helping out!), you can make use of filters in Live Traffic, for specific you might want to filter the entries by “Logins and Logouts” to list all the login attempts.
