multiple archive templates?

Hi there,

I’m sorry if this answer has already been covered but I’ve been googling around for the past hour and not found anything.

I want to use wordpress to manage my entire site (that’s not built yet).

The bottom line is I need several loop pages, that is several pages featuring a loop.

The first is the blog index (which you get to by clicking on the blog link from the homepage).

The second is the news page (which you get to by clicking on the news link from the homepage). But the newspage should only show posts posted in the category “News”.

The actual index page in the theme I’ve build does not feature a loop as such, only an up and coming posts plugin. The rest of the content is static.

If I’ve explained all that well, then the question is this…:

Is it possible to create multiple archive template pages that all look differently? And if it is, how do I tell wordpress which archive template to call when?
