guys, would really appreciate your advice

i bought a short domain name and installed sprettylink on it and now creating short urls for free, using any symbols i want after “/”, having no limit in number, not being blocked or spammed etc. It seems to work out well, but i really wanna know if you guys see some pitfalls or downsides of that solution, can it be reliable longterm (if i have thousands of links), will the plugin work fast then, can it slowdown or overload that short domain name website, will those links open fast etc etc etc.

    thanks a lot

It’s not so simple to answer. The performance depends on a lot of things such as your hosting environment, how many other plugins/themes are installed and activated and what the traffic levels are. Which can all be compounded by the latency between your server and the location of the user.

Generally speaking though, thousands of pretty links should be just fine, as long as you keep you clicks trimmed frequently if you get a lot of traffic.

Each time someone visits a pretty link, a click record is stored in the database. If you get too many click records, it can cause your site to slow down do to too much data in the database.

So using this feature to trim hits every once in a while helps prevent that: https://cspf.co/t0pH/Image%202018-07-17%20at%209.53.50%20PM.png
