    Help!

We have your events calendar installed on https://www.inspirednewsradio.com/schedule.

    And We love it.

We create an event and upload a featured image to go with the event (which is a podcast).

But Suddenly – we have numerous greyed out images duplicating themselves in our Media Library. They have a URL and title for one guest – but say they are uploaded to an event for a different guest.

We don’t understand why all of these greyed out images are populating our media library.

For the guest in question – Thomas Baber – we only have two actual images of him in our media library. But now we have 28 greyed out “images” that say they are of Thomas Baber – but at the bottom of they indicate that they are uploaded to an interview with a guest called Stacey Vannasdale. But there are no actual photos – just greyed out images taking up space in our Media library.

I tried to add a screenshot here to show you but it would not take it. I know this must sound confusing – but we don’t know why all these greyed out images are filling up our Media Library. Can we delete these greyed out images or will that somehow damage the event listed in the calendar?

Any advice you can offer would be helpful.

    Thank You!

  • Hi @maggie96,

This sounds like something that can happen when an image is not fully or properly uploaded. I recommend to safely deal with this:

    – back up your website database(s).
    – run a “repair” command on your AI1EC calendar database tables

If the grayed out images are still in the library — it should be safe to delete them — but first make sure it’s not a browser error.

Try clearing your browser cache and check the library again:

In Google Chrome you can clear your browser cache by pressing [CTRL] + [Shift] + [Delete], then follow the on-screen instructions to clear your cache, or, try a different browser, or an incogneto browser window, then try again.

    Hi Sunny,

Thank you for the follow-up. I repaired the 4 tables. The greyed out images are still in our Media Library but I will go through and delete them.

QUESTION: When you mentioned that an “image is not fully or properly uploaded” – is this created by User error?

After looking at this – I think the person who creates our Calendar Events might be uploading each image directly into the Calendar Event instead of uploading the images into the Media Library. Should he be uploading the images directly to the Media Library first and then adding them to an Event from there?

Just trying to figure out what we could be doing wrong on our end. ??

Thanks so much for your help!

    Maggie

    Hi @maggie96,

Not user error. Techological error. It could be a result of a memory glitch or a connection glitch — something completely different.

When a user clicks on the Featured Image button, it still directs them to pick an image from the Media Library within WordPress, so that is not a concern really. Of course, you can upload an image to the Media Library first, but this won’t make a difference on whether the image becomes corrupt.

I don’t think anything was done wrong on your end. Just suffice it to say, sometimes it’s a “ghost bug”. I like to call it this, but it basically means that we understand that technology is not always perfect, and when it’s not, we can fix it.

?? You made me chuckle. I have friends who expect “technology” to always be perfect. Lol. Anyway – thanks for letting me know it’s not user error. Just wanted to be sure.

    Have a great day, Sunny!

    Hi @maggie96,

Indeed… I deal with these same people on a regular basis -.-

I have to also understand, people are also not perfect ??
