For many weeks now I have been trying to connect to my blog. I have used all FTP clients for mac, read all the forums and seen all the videos. For some reason I just can’t connect to my blog.

Currently I am using Cyberduck. Even with this software I get the same message that I got with others; “Connection Refused.” I have not forgotten my password as I can still log into my site using the internet browser. I am still new to wordpress as I recently moved from blogger.

I have even used Vista thinking that it was a mac issue and used Filezilla; however, no luck there either.

My primary purpose to connect to my blog is to be able to upload new themes and plug-in. I wouldn’t have posted this topic if I would have gotten my answer from the pre-existing topics.

    Please help!

  • I think this is a question for your host. The ftp password and the password to your blog are two totally separate things.

    Good Luck.

I am not sure I understand. The blog is being hosted by WordPress.

Contact whoever is hosting your blog. This site, wordpress.org does not host blogs.

I sincearly don’t understand. My blog is a wordpress blog. So what you are saying is that I should put the question in WordPress.com?

Okay so I moved the question to WordPress.com forums. And this is what somebody over there said, “This is wordpress.COM. We don’t have ftp access here and can’t use plugins and so you really need to be at www.remarpro.com. We simply can’t help you.”

    So who do I ask?

    You asked.
    You were answered.

Your blog is at WordPress.com. Those blogs don’t have FTP access, nor can they install their own plugins.

You want to do that stuff? Then you get the wordpress package from here at wordpress.org, get your own web host and install and customize to your heart’s content.

Okay. I have downloaded the WordPress (Version 2.7.1) and also made the required changes to the admin file. I am also able to connect to the server using MAMP. I also downloaded a theme from here that I liked and successful placed it in the right folder and I was to see it in mysite/wp-admin/ and also am being able to use that theme. But now how to I get it to show on the internet?

You have to have a host, a company that hosts your site. For a definition take a look here.

I really think you need to take a step back and research what you are trying to do. And then come back to WordPress.
