Separator variable (%%sep%%) should count as 1 character in Snippet Editor

Not so sure if this is the intended behavior or a bug, but I noticed that the separator variable is being counted as 7 characters for the purpose of showing the ideal length of Meta Description in Snippet Preview as either orange or green (bar), or black or red (text).

Unlike other variables, the %%sep%% has a fixed width of one character, so it should be counted only as one character. As can be seen in this screencast, when I replace a one-character separator by the sep variable, the length bar changes from green to orange, and the text, from black to red.
