• Hi Everyone,

I’m doing a favour for a family friend and they need a Web site for their costume business.

As I don’t really fancy uploading 100’s of images i was wondering if I could use wordpress for this?

I would have PAGES for the static content, and then categories such as animal costumes, movie characters etc and then each time a new costume is to be added to the site I would POST it to the relevant category.

My idea is then that the category home page would display an image and the title of that costume, in a grid format, with the image being clickable to show the full size.

Can wordpress do this? How would I have the image pop-up in a “lightbox” kind of fashion? I would still need the post to display when clicking the title, but only the pop up image to show when clicking the image.

Hope this makes sense, are there any plugins that can automate this for me? How would I go about setting this page up?

    Thanks in advance.

Right, I’ve found the lightbox plugin, but it looks like this will only work by manually entering rel=”lightbox” into the html view. This isn’t ideal, is there an easier way of doing this? i.e, clicking a button instead of editing html?

ok, the way I think I would approach this is be having the posts dispaly as a grid on the category page, and then simply educate the user to insert a post title and then an image. Straight after the image would be the “more” / continue reading split post tag and then what follows is the full description.

The only thing left to do would be to find a way to easily add the rel=”lightbox” tag to the image url!

Have you looked into the NextGen gallery plugin? It automatically creates lightbox versions of the images, you can have multiple galleries, can upload zip files of all your images.
