• I have an odd problem. It would appear that some spammers are able to prevent an addendum containing special mail tags (like remote IP address) appearing in a Message Body. This is worrying, because as part of my security measures, I always permanently ban the originating IP addresses of spam/abusive messages via my server firewall.

This is the message body, used on two sites:

    From: [your-name] <[your-email]>
    Subject: [your-subject]

    Message: [your-message]

This e-mail was sent via the Contact Form on the <some> website (https://some.site) on [_date] at [_time]. The sender’s IP address was [_remote_ip].

I can’t reproduce the problem, because the addendum always appears when I test it. However, it looks as though, probably with a specially crafted message containing relevant code, spammers can stop the addendum being added to the message they send. So, the first question is, how do they do that; and the second question is, how to stop them!
