    When you upgrade to Smart Slider 3.3 from 3.2 you might see the following error message:

    Update Failed: Controller not found: N2systembackendInstallController

    You can dismiss it, just refresh the page and everything should work as expected.

  • Not so sure… the slider does work but Chrome Dev Tools reports

    (index):417 Uncaught ReferenceError: N2R is not defined at (index):417

    Cleared the Console, forced a hard cache refresh and the error keeps appearing

    This was the full error message after the update to 3.3:

    Controller not found: N2systembackendInstallController
    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method N2Form::import() in /www/sites/fd7/491/dev.henleyherald.com/web/wp-content/plugins/smart-slider-3/library/smartslider/backend/N2SmartsliderApplicationTypeBackend.php:16 Stack trace: #0 /www/sites/fd7/491/dev.henleyherald.com/web/wp-content/plugins/smart-slider-3/nextend/library/libraries/mvc/application/type.php(50): N2SmartsliderApplicationTypeBackend->autoload() #1 /www/sites/fd7/491/dev.henleyherald.com/web/wp-content/plugins/smart-slider-3/nextend/library/libraries/mvc/application/application.php(61): N2ApplicationType->__construct(Object(N2SmartSliderApplication), '/www/sites/fd7/...') #2 /www/sites/fd7/491/dev.henleyherald.com/web/wp-content/plugins/smart-slider-3/nextend/library/libraries/mvc/application/application.php(85): N2Application->_createApplicationType('backend') #3 /www/sites/fd7/491/dev.henleyherald.com/web/wp-content/plugins/smart-slider-3/includes/smartslider3.php(259): N2Application->getApplicationType('backend') #4 /www/sites/fd7/491/dev.henleyhe in /www/sites/fd7/491/dev.henleyherald.com/web/wp-content/plugins/smart-slider-3/library/smartslider/backend/N2SmartsliderApplicationTypeBackend.php on line 16

    Hi @zimbo000!

    I think in your case some files might be missing. Please follow this alternative update method:
    https://smartslider3.helpscoutdocs.com/article/418-wordpress-alternative-update#ftp
    so go to your Plugins list, delete your current Smart Slider 3 installation, then upload our zip files through FTP instead. If you would use Filezilla, you could make sure that all the files are getting uploaded.

    If this won’t solve your problem, please write to us to [email protected] and we will try to help there!

    Just found that the thumbnails under the main image are displaying in a vertical column and not horizontally under the image as before. I post this in case anyone else sees an issue.

    I’ll try your update method and report back.

    Just done the update to 3.3.1 as per the instructions via FTP. N2R error has not gone away.

    Updated to 3.3.2, N2R error still there plus thumbnails still vertical. Will send email with site details.
