Every time there is a Jetpack update, the option to serve images from Jetpack servers gets turned on. I need this to remain off. It breaks the Lightbox option on my site when it is turned on.

Is there a way to ensure this will remain off on future updates?

    Hi @ batracy –

Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

    Hi Liz,

I currently have the setting in JetPack turned off, so everything is working as I want it too.

Here is the url to the site: https://www.brucephotoart.com
As stated before, display of the galleries has always been ok. It’s of the blog postings (under Journal, Photography & Art), and regular pages (such as Services, Get a Painting Quote) where it will not work if the setting to use JetPack servers for images is turned on.

Have a look now so you can see how it should work. Then let me know and I’ll turn on the JetPack setting so you can see that it does not work.

FYI, I have reported this problem to the plugin developer for the Lightbox I’m using. They are looking into the issue.

    Thanks,
    Bruce

Forgot to mention, my issue here with JetPack is that it is changing this setting to use JetPack’s image servers every time there is an update to JetPack.

Now I understand that using JetPack’s image servers might be a good thing, but for my site it is not. Could you please just fix your update process to leave the settings alone?

    Thanks.

    Hi @batracy

Thanks for sharing all of that information with me. It’s super helpful!

I had a look and found a previous report of what you have described:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/9680

We do have a mechanism that reactivates modules that were disabled previously, but only if they were filtered out before, or added to Jetpack in the current release. This CDN setting has been there since the beginning, so it shouldn’t have been activated.

Perhaps you have been using some filters that removed CDN from the features?

Yes, that describes exactly what is happening on my site. I do not have other filters that remove the CDN from the features.

I have it manually disabled right now. I’ll let you know if the next update changes the setting.

Thanks for that, @batracy! Marking the thread as solved for now, but if you have any news to share please feel free to contact us directly or open another thread.

    Have a great weekend!

Ok, the setting got changed again. How do I disable the automatic update so I can know when I need to check the setting and reset it?

    The instructions are here:

Let me know if you have any trouble getting it sorted.
