I’m getting strange behaviour when I test an amp version of my website. Overall, the tablepress tables are displaying nicely except for links within the table content.

If I use Chrome Inspector to emulate a phone and display an amp post with a tablepress table, then the links within the table content are OK.

But if I actually view the same amp post on my iPhone (or via another mobile emulator) then the links within the tablepress content have been stripped out, and replaced with the text “… more” at the end of the row – but the “… more” doesn’t have a link!

This is so difficult to analyse/debug because the problem doesn’t show in Chrome Inspector!

Do you have any suggestions how I might go about resolving this? Do you think it is a tablepress/amp issue? It’s not a problem at all on the desktop (non-amp) version.

If you want to see my test site, I can send you a link privately. Thanks.

Oops. The mysterious “… more” text is actually in my table. The problem is that the link has been stripped from it.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Yes, it would be good if you could send me a link. My email is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”.

However, I doubt that this is a TablePress issue, as TablePress doesn’t do any such content modifications.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias

It’s good of you to offer to look at it. I will send you an email with the details, though what you say makes it sound ominous – that the problem may be in AMPforWP, and I don’t like my chances of getting that resolved.

Anyway, I live in hope that you may be able to shed some light on it.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Jana

    Hi,

thanks! That’s nice to hear! ??

I hope that you can find the cause for this!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

Yes, I found the cause. When I deactivated W3 Total Cache, the problem disappeared! How on earth W3 Total Cache interacted with AMP for WP to strip links in TablePress data, I have no idea. But there you have it. I have since installed WP Rocket with no problem.
