Backups Missing Files

    Just noticed today that since the last plugin update my backups are missing files, but no errors are generated in the log.

    Database only backups are completely empty.

    Full backups only contain the following folders in the root: wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes. These folders seem to contain their files. But there are no other files in the root of the backup.

    I tested this on multiple sites and via two different hosts. My last backup before the plugin update was May 18, and that was fine.

    Hope someone can help!

    P.S. My backups are saving to Dropbox.

    I updated to 3.5.1, and the problem persisted. I rolled back the plugin to 3.4.5, and the backups are working again. So, the problem definitely started at 3.5.

    I am experiencing the same issue (backup to dropbox) using 3.5.1. The ZIP file created contains only folders – no DB backup scripts, php files, .htaccess file, etc (i.e., no root files).

    I had this exact same problem after updating to 3.5.1. If I set it for tar gzip I get a file that’s 0kb and can’t be opened. If I set it for a regular zip file, it takes a lot longer and I end up with an empty zip folder.

    If I roll back to version 3.4.5 I get a normal, usable backup.

    Server is listed as Apache on one host and LiteSpeed on another. Is this all you needed from the Information page?

    Most of my sites are running on PHP version 7.1.17 and a few on 7.0.30.

    I have the problem with several sites with different server-configurations:

    This is a Test-Site were only a few plugins are installed with nearly not content and structure

    I does not work either if I save it to ftp or if I save it to file. I also get no error messages and it also worked with the older versions of BackWPup.

    Same. I tried deactivating and reactivating the plugin and now it won’t show up on the sidebar. Following

    Same issue in multiple environments (different hosts, different PHP versions).
    If using zip as the compression method, the folders are there but the files at the root level are missing (including the DB).
    If using tar gzip, there is a single root folder (dot folder) which looks empty.
    Using 7-zip to extract the compressed files.
    The size of the backup file looks ok, so I assume that the files and folders are there, but can’t see them.
