• I have Contact Form 7 installed at a site I have been developing and it works very well (thanks Takayuki!) apart from one small problem.

Emails from the form get through to three mail addresses I’ve tested it with, but not to the forth. This is because the latter rejects malformed email addresses and the ‘mailto’ address is based on the URL of the site. The site in question is, for a while, running from an IP based address (it just has a number) so the message headers look like this:

    From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]
    Sent: 23 March 2009 16:43
    To: [email protected]
    Subject: [your-subject]

The spam trap on the third account doesn’t like ‘[email protected]’ for obvious reasons – it’s a spoof address. I know how to change the ‘from’ and ‘to’ addresses in the admin panel, but is it possible to change the ‘mailto’ address that is being generated as well?

Update – just had a long chat with tech support at my host and they say that [email protected] isn’t being generated by their mailserver. Odd that it has ‘wordpress’ as the prefix.
